Kunene River Lodge

Kunene River Lodge is an exceptional destination situated in remote north-west Namibia, overlooking Angola on the opposite river-bank. The Lodge boasts luxury accommodation, rustic chalets and riverside camp-sites, and offers a range of activities including white-water rafting, birding, sundowner and early morning birding cruises, hiking, fishing, challenging 4x4 routes or simply relaxing in the tranquil shaded surroundings of the Lodge itself.

Established in 1997, Kunene River Lodge has earnt itself an enviable reputation as one of the foremost Namibian White-Water Rafting Centres. By maintaining our own in-house operation, using only top quality equipment manufactured by ARK and employing full-time guides fully trained to standards of the African Paddlers Association, we offer the highest levels of expertise and care to our discerning Guests. Whether teamed in two or eight man boats you can be assured that your safety is our top priority at all times.

In addition to one-day adventures through the rapids of the nearby Ondorusu Gorge, we offer small groups of 2 - 8 people the opportunity of a lifetime, to navigate and explore an unspoilt and virtually unknown 100km stretch of the Kunene River as it threads its way from the Lodge to the magnificent Epupa Falls through Kaokoland, one of Africa's last great wilderness areas. This land is the remote and beautiful home, not only to the remarkable Himba people who still live here as they have done for centuries, but also to a fascinating variety of bird-life. The expedition lasts four exhilarating days, involving everything from relaxed paddling through tranquil desert riverscapes to the excitement and thrills of tackling grade 1-4 rapids of the rocky gorges. Each magical evening we set up camp alongside the river, where few visitors have ever set foot before, to enjoy a hearty meal around the campfire, under the brilliant stars and surrounded by the mysterious sounds of the African night.
